Kiss & Tell, with Art

Along with all the other amenities that the Ellwanger Estate B&B offers, you can also awaken your inner artist. One of our frequent return guests, Anya Orzechowska, usually manages to depict a local scene or a figure in a painting during her stays.

Recently Anya has been focusing on portraits of pets and says that it is inspiring to capture the love of people she has met for the pet that shares their home. This last weekend, she finished a portrait of Piggy, a Boston terrier with an attitude and Fox, a gentle pit bull.

Although she often works from photographs, Anya says the only problem with painting these tail-wagging pets is that she always wants to take them home with her afterwards!

Nominee for The Best Valentine Getaway, ROCS WHEC (Channel 10).

And to whom do I owe my debit of gratitude for nominating the Ellwanger Estate B&B as the Best Valentine Getaway?  So you can imagine my surprise when Channel 10 called to report that the Ellwanger Estate had been nominated and was now in the top five! That was a shot in the arm. The competition was stiff and my hat goes off to the winner: Woodcliff Hotel.

So what would I change for the 2017 competition ? Not a thing other than category.

I love the intimacy  of a FOUR room Bed and Breakfast, vs a 236 room hotel, with a golf course, spa, restaurant, fitness center, indoor and outdoor swimming pools.  Oops, I’m forgetting who I am promoting! However we are two different entities. If you are looking for peace, quiet, serenity, romance, charm, in a Downton Abby way with lush gardens, wildlife, and all walking distance to the U or R, College Town, Highland Park and downtown, then I’m your retreat.

Looks who is coming to breakfast, my dear deers!

Oh, my dear deers.  They not only came to breakfast, they stayed for lunch-which I don’t serve. However, I do serve up entertainment and they where the stars.

Or as Anya would put it: “The bane of gardeners, the delight of guests”.

Prana, you complete me !

Truly, I am complete with Prana.  The Ellwanger Estate B&B has just completed a full upgrade to the finest organic mattresses made of 100% natural rubber Talalay imported from the Netherlands, quilted with wool and Talalay, and clad in silk, wool and cashmere.  This is a rare-find for an affordable Bed & Breakfast accommodation, in Rochester, New York.

Though some guests will no doubt want to spend much of their time exploring Rochester and the Finger Lake region, the Ellwanger Estate Bed and Breakfast, itself makes for no ordinary place to return to for the night or the afternoon rest.

What a difference a bed, a night, and a day will make, all the while sleeping on a cloud. “Prana sleep is amazing sleep”.  Looking forward to your visit.
