We regard ourselves stewards of the land. It has been our commitment at the Ellwanger Estate B&B to source as many local products for our farm to table breakfast concept. There is an unprecedented demand for local foods in New York State and we are a proponent of local food sources.

Currently we are sourcing as many products as possible from local farms, farmers markets, and local food co-ops, and continue with our commitment to providing our guests with the freshest and best of local ingredients, for a true local dining experience.

Once a week we receive a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) delivery from Porter Farms. These delectable organic ingredients, harvested in Elba, NY (Genesee County) go into our lavish breakfasts and afternoon treats.

We have also been utilizing our own vegetable and herb gardens here at the Ellwanger Estate B&B. And our pear trees provide a seasonal bounty of fruits that we use daily in our cuisine.

After breakfast, tour the Ellwanger Gardens, home to a variety of award winning pears at the Paris Exhibition in 1900. Thank you George! And now to quote Mr. George Ellwanger on the subject of food:

Cookery is naturally the most ancient of the arts, as of all arts it is the most important.

Cookery is naturally the most ancient of the arts, as of all arts it is the most important.

The dessert is said to be to the meal what the madrigal is to literature- it is the light poetry of the kitchen.

A combination of the qualities of the scholar, the master cook, the painter, the gastronomer, the sportsman and the pantologist, assisted by the skill of the bookmaker and etcher, will be required to compose the cookbook par excellence.
